I got to see Ranger Rally in action today! I’m so proud of Northwest Rangers for working with students on the 7 habits. Today, students talked about win/win & affirmed both themselves and others. Some ELL students read and discussed in Spanish to better participate. @CADowell1
The phrase “behavior problem” drives me crazy. There is no such thing as a behavior problem child in school. Behaviors are not the problem they are always solutions kids pick to their problems. Focus on the underlying cause for real results. #thatonekid
Sound up! @NMS_JHassell doing his thing at Northwest Middle’s 6th grade orientation. Nervousness met with enthusiasm! That’s the Ranger Way. Let’s Gooooo!!!! @bost_joann@NMS_Rangers@KnoxCountyPBIS
Five goals when defusing an upset kid:
1. Treat them with dignity.
2. Preserve your own dignity.
3. Keep them in class.
4. Remain a 2nd to last word person.
5. Teach & practice alternative behavior.

Love is the ultimate driver of grit and excellence:
1. If you love it, you’ll work hard to become great at it.
2. If you love what do you you won’t give up when the world says you should.
3. If you love your team you won’t quit on them.
4. Love casts out fear and fuels you.
Summertime blessing!
Running in to a former alternative student from many years past that you don’t recognize, yet they stop you and thank you for what you meant to them. Funny thing is, they will never know what they meant to me! He’s now a plumber and doing great!
That-a-boy!

Celebrating my finest blessing today as he turns the big 10. Even though the quarantines placed some differences in our lives, there was great joy watching him and his friends navigate through a “zoom” virtual birthday party.
