this is the really scary part of natural disasters.. most people do not have what it takes to get up and leave, most people don’t have anywhere to go. most people don’t have what is necessary to rebuild. how do you get the pets out? our government (state and federal) is severely underprepared to save people and meet their needs, and the disaster will come anyway.

hundreds if not thousands of homes and businesses can be washed away in a night. people and pets get stranded. it’s the closest we get to an “end of the world” movie-like scenario, with a high chance no one comes (fast enough) to save you.

1. yes, and during that time women had barely any agency or rights, leaving many of them stuck in abusive, unhealthy, and or unhappy relationships and homes forever. THAT is what they were “complaining” about. wanting agency over your own life, to not be treated as a second class citizen, and the ability to keep yourself safe is far from dumb.
