However, I think this focus on the severity of the punishment is misguided. More important than the criminal justice system is the fact that our government has let in large masses of exceedingly violent men from Africa and the Middle East. This is what directly caused the death of Christian Zedig.

If the Congolese killer had never been let in, Christian Zedig would still be alive today. If the Congolese killer had never been granted citizenship, he could have been deported after his first violent crime, and Christian Zedig would still be alive today.

This is what would make the real difference. Our prime minister should be asked about that. Especially now that she is leading a proposal for the mass granting of citizenship to immigrants.
