At Bugle School we are all about providing children with new experiences and tonight was one for the children and staff, a Silent Disco. Thank you for all those who dressed up and braved the weather!
In art, Year 1 have been learning about Hilary Jean Gibson, a local artist. They have been developing their observational skills and learning new sketching techniques. The children have enjoyed using different sketching pencils and exploring the effects that can be created.

Or need to gain more confidence in recognising the first few graphemes and phonemes, and blending these to form words, before they get a book with simple words.

You'll be surprised at how much learning can come from a book with no words.
If you have a child thats just started school and is at the beginning of their reading journey, they will now be bringing home a book bag containing a wordless book.
Schools need to ensure that the books children take home are very closely matched to their phonic ability.
This is why the first books sent home are often wordless as children have either yet to be introduced to phonics.
Year 4/5 have worked incredibly hard in their Art. Using the urban landscape artist Neil Whitehead as inspiration, they have learnt to use guidelines, looked at perspective in drawing, used the continuous line technique and learnt a range of watercolour and pen techniques.
Year 2 have had a brilliant start to the year and in Science they've been learning about materials. They have conducted a number of different experiments and they have created a wonderful display using a variety of different materials. Well done year 2!
