@NoodleOodle7 Outside of the ingame time limits, not really. Hyper Sonic requires a supply of rings to use, which, if we’re giving them both an infinite supply of items…

@NoodleOodle7 If we’re considering both of them having infinite bags, what’s stopping Sonic from just spamming Hyper? Which is depicted (in the few games it appeared in) as a generally stronger version of super that doesn’t require the usage of the chaos emeralds.

@NoodleOodle7 One other thing worth noting, the super stars don’t protect Mario from one thing, environmental damage.

Lava will do it, falling into “bottomless pits” will do it. The star only protects him from harm from others, not the environment
