How do ideas about meaningful youth participation shape young people's capacity to engage and have agency in society? How can EU policymakers better engage and draw from the experiences of millions of young people across Europe?
Earlier today, these were some of the questions participants addressed at a roundtable discussion hosted by the BIC Brussels Office, titled "Reimagining Youth Participation at the Local Level: Reflections for the EU Youth Strategy".
The conversation brought together city representatives from European Youth Capitals, national youth council representatives, European youth organisations, and other civil society organisations.
Part of the discussion also explored the characteristics a system would need, and the kinds of structures required, to engage young people not only through youth representatives but in a way that enables the participation of every young person at the local level.
