Welcome to The Show, Chad!
🚨 Opener alert!
Mason Fluharty to open tomorrow. Chad Dallas is on the taxi squad for now, but assuming he makes the active roster he will likely bulk relieve.
Chad Patrick is warming up for the Brewers.
He last pitched on Wednesday, starting the game and throwing 61 pitches.
Drohan relieved Patrick on Wednesday, looks like it could be the opposite tonight.
No Chase Burns today due to illness. He has been scratched. Lyon Richardson will be the opener.
That helps explain the Reds move to bring up Brandon Leibrandt today. He pitched in a game for the Reds in 2024 and has bounced around the minors and independent ball over the years. He had a short, bad start the other day in Louisville, but he typically has been able to provide length in Triple-A.
Dobbins is available in the bullpen tonight in a bulk assignment if needed, Marmol said. If the game situation doesn’t arise, they’ll evaluate his spot from there. Didn’t want to commit, clearly, so seems like a chance they rejigger the rotation if he doesn’t pitch tonight.
In his return to the bullpen, David Peterson is vying for a rare four-inning save today.
The Mets went 17 years without recording a four-inning save. Peterson could now give them their third in two seasons, joining Paul Blackburn and Justin Hagenman.
