@BlackCasebook Somehow getting an ASM sub as a birthday gift and receiving One More Day as my literal first issue didn't kill my interest in the medium lol
@BlackCasebook I'm sure my first actual comic was some random issue of Ultimate Spider-Man when I was like seven but getting into Hellboy as a teenager is absolutely the reason I'm still here reading this stuff lol.
@BlackCasebook The biggest lie I ever saw regarding their work was that they couldn't write actual compelling narratives and just thrived on whacky ideas. The weirdness is a selling point for sure, but if you can read All Star or Doom Patrol without being moved, idk what to say.
@dick_genital@BlackCasebook Live and Let Die is so racist it's genuinely hard to read, not in the sense that I'm offended (though, that too) but in the sense that half the dialogue is impossible to parse because of how Fleming writes non-white characters' speech patterns.
@readstarwars And stuff like KOTOR II which was written by a guy who deliberately set out to subvert SW tropes and question everything about the universe, was almost universally praised!
@BlackCasebook Very funny to go through this much effort to make a "serious" bat suit and then still give him a cowl that affixes that perpetual gormless look on his face.
@hollinger It's funny that everyone makes fun of people in their thirties who only read YA novels but few seem to do the same for adults who exclusively watch anime whose genre literally means that it's intended for teenage boys lol.
@BlackCasebook My first episode was the "suicide by cop while high hopes is playing" and I still remember trying not to cry laughing at my work desk.
Having new eps and the backlog to listen to at work and then while wandering my neighborhood alone during COVID, I'll forever be grateful.
@VioletGweny So many early YGO cards were clearly shit on purpose cause they were meant to incentivize kids to buy more packs, very obvious they never had a collector market or competitive scene in mind cause this shit is foul lmfao
@DDeMarco_ A lot of MMA fans particularly older ones clearly got into MMA when they found out wrestling was scripted and have been bitter about it ever since.
@MichelFiffe I used to love going to the comic shops and grabbing literally whatever based on the cover alone. If there was something I didn't understand it just made me want to read more.
@BlackCasebook Skyrim to me is basically a tuned up RuneScape, you're not actually meant to be all that invested in the world or lore, that's just a veneer over the grinding and combat, which is probably why it has the crossover success it did but why I can never play it for more than an hour.
