Our health system is so fucked that regional communities are relying on the @RoyalFlyingDoc to provide their primary care services.
This is a complete & absolute failure of policy from successive governments.

Great to catch up with @christophert77 in Perth who has been doing fantastic work keeping Australians informed about what’s happening in WA for @SBSNews. It’s great to see that he still has his passion for rural equity! @rural_remote#ruralhealth
Delegates have gathered in Perth for the largest rural health conference of its kind in the southern hemisphere. A key highlight was addressing the challenges faced by Indigenous communities in some of Australia's most remote locations. @SBSNews@NRHAlliance@BurdackMark#17NRHC
Rural & remote communities need to get qualified & capable GPs into practice as quickly as possible. Current approaches have not been achieving this goal for a very long time. Change is needed. #ruralhealth https://t.co/TMJKtLKCi4 @Mark_Butler_MP@Emma4Dobell
@TheMandarinAU This seems odd.The RC conducted an extensive examination of Robodebt, incl rebuttals from named public servants, & found that they acted improperly. The facts of what happened are settled. How is it in the best interests of their unis for chancellors to get involved in this?
@TheMandarinAU Robodebt was illegal;public servants knew it was illegal;it killed young people. This truth was settled through a contest of evidence by the RC. Interesting to see if the uni academies & boards - institutions dedicated to the pursuit of truth - now hold their own to account.
@TheAusInstitute @RDNS_TAI I remember when Australians were promised a ‘productivity dividend’ if we let government deregulate capital and hand over government decision making to shadowy businessmen in smoke filled back rooms drinking cognac. I suppose at least a few politicians did well out of it.
@spenderallegra Parliaments were meant to put a check on the unbridled exercise of power by monarchs & the elites by allowing real people (teachers, social workers, lawyers, doctors, train drivers, drovers) to debate, discuss & decide on the best solutions for our nation & its people.
@MikeCarlton01@ChrisMinnsMP Remote work has allowed Sydney folk to move to the regions to get a better work/life balance, & an affordable home. This puts downward pressure on Sydney house prices. I assume this means mass sackings of public servants who live in the bush & increase in Sydney house prices.
@QLDCountryGP@stephenjduckett@M_McCormackMP Agree. We need to change the funding mechanism & the funding value. Whether it is a general practice clinic with a rural GP owner-operator, or a primary care clinic, we need a model that ensures they all have the resources to deliver services that reflect local need.
Why can’t we have joined-up services like this for rural and remote people? Governments invest millions in wrap-around primary and social care services in the cities, why not for rural Australians? https://t.co/dLiP6jdLxc #ruralhealth
If financial assistance is needed for Rex, the Govt should not just gift taxpayers money to them for investors to benefit from, rather it should take an equity stake. 1/3 #auspol https://t.co/a8E4quZpp5
Oz has a universal healthcare system that currently excludes 30% of Australians & growing; a uni system that excludes the poor; a disability system that excludes people with disabilities; etc. All I hear is a plan to limit universality even more. https://t.co/SZcKgT3IWP @AlboMP
This is a refreshing return to the idea of freedom for all, rather than the freedom of some. The freedom of women to control their bodies. The freedom of trans people to live free of discrimination. The freedom of the poor to have access to free healthcare. Well done.
@elonmusk Biden’s decision to withdraw as a candidate for election for another term has nothing to do with his current presidency. The only people who tried to prevent him becoming President, and are trying to force him to resign as President, aren’t Democrats. Is this gaslighting?
