Today an FIR was filed in Assam against TMC goon and serial offender Nilanjan Das.

He will be brought to Assam and face legal action. Another FIR has also been filed in Serampore, in his local area.

I consider myself a long-term critic of @ShekharGupta because of the huge admiration I have for him. My admiration for Shekhar comes from my firm belief that there is no one as cunning and as clever as SG.

Truth be told, Shekhar has a legendary ability to say things he wants to say while hiding the reality, and yet make his readers believe his writing is the only gospel truth. That is what makes him most dangerous. He is the original propagandist who sits perfectly at the intersection of old style journalism and new age media.

Infact, there is no better proof of that last assertion than his ability to bring dead leaders and others alive at will, but only after they are gone, to prove his point or build context. Today, it was the turn of late Balbir Punj. One of the finest our side has produced.

Coming back to the quoted tweet and article; I'm forced to tweet my rejoinder after breaking my personal resolve to not counter folks anymore. Such effort entails writing long tweets or threads; something newbies and self-certified commentators do all day, often with AI doing the heavy lifting. It was a conscious choice to stay away from that race.

But SG's latest cunning piece needs to be countered. He is trying to create a dangerous narrative that the configuration of “Muslims as only opposition” is a Modi-Shah creation, and how cure is "a new Hindu-led coalition" that builds a winning vote share with Hindus while protecting Muslims. And there I know he has sniffed that opening in GC as a victim narrative that we are seeing on SM these days.

Dare I claim that both claims of Shekhar wrong; and SG, of all people, knows to very well that they are wrong. Precisely why I won’t see a reply from him as he replied to @kushal_mehra.

Let me say it with complete responsibly that much before Bengal, there was someone who not only invented but also mastered the art of leveraging captive bloc machine by mobilising Muslims as one frightened तुकड़ी, divide Hindus on caste, sit at the centre as the only protector…. Yes that theory is NOT invented by PM @narendramodi and HM @AmitShah . There are merely countering it the way it shud be.

Yes that captive block machine theory was built by Nehru (to leverage Gandhi Vadh) escalated by Indira, calcified by Rajiv, and is now in its terminal phase under a Congress that can no longer maintain it.
If you don’t take my word, don’t but do take Lohia's.

On 3rd Oct 1963, in one of his speeches (covered in Hindu Banam Hindu, Hindu aur Musalman) delivered at Hyderabad speech, Lohia famously blamed Muslims and Nehru for vitiating electoral scene.

His words - “मुसलमान जैसी चीज नहीं रहनी चाहिए राजनीति में। टूट जाना चाहिए।". He called this
एक तुकड़ी politics undemocratic. Yes , he called it so Sixty-three years ago & Lohia was a Socialist; not a Sanghi. Yes same Lohia who many of SGs heroes swear by and whose name they do their politics or earned their riches.

But not just Lohia, even Ambedkar, in his 1951, while resigning from Nehru's Cabinet, said same thing on the floor of Parliament when he said: “The PM's whole time and attention is devoted to the protection of the Muslims… are SCs, STs and Indian Christians not in need of protection?"

Yes this was the Constitution's architect in Parliament.

Lohia did not stop at diagnosis but built the cure also when he joined hands with DDU for 4 Lok Sabha bypolls. Later Samyukta Vidhayak Dal govt in 9 states resulted from that as they worked to break the Congress monopoly that lived off the Hindu-Muslim binary.

SG knows all this as be has read all this but he won’t mention it because the moment Lohia, Ambedkar and SVD enter the conversation, his "new Hindu-led coalition" prescription stops looking like wisdom and starts looking like what it is : a request to revive the captive bloc machine under new management!
