@Hermesparcels - impossible to reach a real person. Parcels being sent back to shops with no attempt to deliver to homes for 3 weeks now in my area - so many lost parcels. Abysmal.

I will die on this hill: you must not check email on vacation. None of us are so indispensable that we can't walk away for a bit. It's extremely important for managers to set this norm for their reports. And everyone will do better work having taken a real break.
Publishing and technology have always been great bedfellows. As long as there has been something to say, humankind has forged tools to help them say it. Each of these technologies helped push publishing into a new era by addressing the age of problems of speed, cost and accuracy.
A great summary of the paper mill problem. I agree we underestimate the scale of the issue. I’m also frustrated this is a problem that’s being “left to publishing” to solve - where is the institutional response? Where are the consequences for those engaging in these practices?
