Manufacturing and capital goods, however, are likely to lag. Brazilian GDP expanded in 2022 by 2.9%. But inflation will prove hard to tame. The bank is now forecasting 2023 inflation of 5.8%, rather than the 5.0% previously projected.

Year-to-date revenues of R$411 billion were up 1.2%, in real terms, over the same period a year ago. Revenues are up mainly on increased collections of taxes over corporate activities. Revenues are expected to improve more in the coming months as fuel tax abatements are removed.
