Derbyshire County Council is committed to Buxton Museum and Art Gallery’s future. While announcing it will leave its Peak Buildings base, they’re actively looking for a new home in the town and developing a great interim service.

It's interesting to note that much like today, Broad Walk in #Buxton was accessible and we can see someone using a #MobilityAid as they pass Milton and Holly Bank Houses with their family.🧑‍🦽

"Avebury Series II, 1973" was painted by artist, film maker, writer, poet, gardener and gay rights activist, Derek Jarman (1942–1994). It relates to his short walking film, "A Journey to Avebury (1971)".🥾📽️

This ornament is comprised of two rare minerals exclusive to #Derbyshire!

Sitting on top of an inlaid #AshfordBlackMarble base is a beautifully crafted cup made from #BlueJohn. The former is found in Ashford-in-the-Water and the latter is mined in Castleton.

Julian Otto Trevelyan (1910-1988) was born #OnThisDay.🎂

He was a notable #poet and #painter, with #Surrealist and #Expressionist tendencies. A little less known were his skills as an #etcher, #lithographer and occasional #sculptor.

These keen anglers are surrounded by breathtaking views as they fish the #RiverDove, #Dovedale.🎣 In the 18th century this gorgeous limestone ravine was part of #Derbyshire, however it's now on the #Staffordshire border.🗺️

"Sheep in Dull Weather" is an oil on canvas piece by #artist Grace Everton Sainsbury (1863–1941).🐑🐏 We aren't sure when or where this was painted, but the sentiment is very familiar.☔
