Nick's doing an AI drinking game at IMTS 2026 — a drink every time someone says "AI." Ryan Kelly, VP of Tech at AMT, joins us to help you actually cut through it. #Manufacturing#IMTS2026
A much more intellectually honest headline would be:
“Nearly half of 18-to-29-year-olds live with a parent, driven heavily by college-age adults.”
Roughly 15% over age of 24 lived with a parent at any point during 2025.
18-24 bucket includes college students, recent high-school graduates, trade-school students, and people at the very beginning of their careers.
The framing makes it sound like half of 29-year-olds are living in Mom’s basement. The underlying data absolutely does not say that.
@c0nst@HoustonSearcher@Michaelkornuta@MFG_SMB All the issues on this thread are real! I lean towards buying over building for all the positives mentioned. But the risks are real, without a doubt. That where the valuation, structure and due diligence rule the deal.

There are 9 places to find your shop's next competitive edge, positioning, pricing, process, people, and more. Most shops only ever look at one. #Manufacturing#Strategy
A safety distributor stopped pitching cheap gloves to purchasing managers. She bundled PPE, compliance, and training into one service and sold it to the CFO instead. Same product, totally different margin. #Manufacturing#Strategy

New machine shops don’t always need to niche down right away.
Sometimes the best move is to stay general, run the work, learn your strengths, and let the right opportunities point you toward specialization.

He didn’t want to learn CNC.
Programming felt intimidating, unfamiliar, and easier to avoid. But once he and his dad started learning on their first CNC mill, everything changed.
Now? He calls CNC “the greatest thing ever.”

The Free “School” That Got Him Into Manufacturing
For the next generation, discovering manufacturing often starts with watching incredible CNC cuts, complex parts, and creators who make the trade feel exciting and accessible.
In this clip, Leighton Hill shares how channels like Titans of CNC, Edge Precision, and Abom79 helped spark his interest in machining, turning YouTube videos into inspiration, education, and even family night with his dad.
