You are not behind. You are in the most important building phase of your entire career and you have been convinced it should already be finished.
The comparison is killing you faster than the competition ever could.
I noticed something about environment. When you are surrounded by broke people, it starts to feel like everyone is struggling, like the economy is collapsing and no one has money, and even if you do, you start thinking you might lose it. When you are around entrepreneurs and people who are building things, it feels like money and opportunities are everywhere, even when you personally have less. Your environment shapes what you believe is possible.
Now that you can freely do everything your parents never wanted you to do, hope you’ve found fulfillment ?
Now that you can drink/smoke/have sex with anyone at anytime/stay out late/spend nights out and all..
I repeat, hope you’ve found fulfillment ?
Maybe.. Just maybe, the real fulfillment is in DISCIPLINE.
There will never be full compatibility in human relationships. Be it platonic, familial, or romantic. Only openness to dialogue guarantees continuity. The pursuit of relationships does not seek full compatibility as much as it seeks understanding/consensus. That we agree to leverage the best of each other to achieve a collective goal and minimise the alternative, which can only be realised through communication.
Because it is this conversation that helps map out the areas of incompatibility for resolution or parting. You must be open to conversation if you seek human connection, or contend with a sugarcane for a partner.
Man, I don't have much to say lately. It's a chaotic world. The poor marry, so do the rich. Some die, some are born. I ate meat, I ate veggies. I lost my job, but I got another. And I love it in nature, man. The ocean, the trees: they do something to me, man.
And when I am running, the wind feels like therapy in my face. I also concluded that I have no type, no mechanical standards with people: everybody is an experience. A book I unravel. There are times I wished the novel would go on forever, but I guess I am no life's author: I am only a reader. I can only exist in the moment. Not focus too much on the ending.
There are women I thought I would marry, man. And I loved holding their hands, kissing their foreheads. But I guess it was never meant to be. And it is sad, but it's life, man. That's the joy of it. To feel with abandon. Then heal just as resolutely.
I used to believe I was entirely good. But I got blocked for the first time this year, so I guess I can't be all that. When I tell my stories, I am an angel and rainbow, but I must have hurt people in my past, and I guess I am a little heartbroken by it. I wanted to be perfect. And I always meant well but intentions never count when we hurt people, do they?
And I want to live with the rules, man. But they are so exhausting. Do this, and do that and they still don't guarantee shit. Because after all of it, I am still going to die. You could do everything right, and still lose. And that's just how it is. That's just how it is.
So I guess my only rule is living for now. I will be more pessimistic when I give up. But I have hope still. I see myself with a nice house somewhere with a lot of trees, man. Someone I will wake up to and call "baby". I mean it's stupid when you think it up, but what's the alternative, man? Wake up to a fucking cactus in a pot in my 40s?! Call a cat "honey"?
And my friends look at me and say,"you are too white, brother". Too romantic for life. But I am not the one chasing emptiness with gin. Night after night with nothing to show for it, except bland tales about the pretty girl at the bar, and the big boys that spend cash like it's water. Knowing everything about everyone except ourselves. Chasing everything but us, man. Living vicariously through others, delegating our existence to another. Like a man who has love at home, but won't stop lamenting doomed love. Parroting hell for relevance until he becomes the statistic he spoke into life.
And why must it always be investment. Can't even spend my money in peace. Everybody is preaching and the gospel is all stacking it up. But I saw a local dude in some torn shorts, with his wife and kids in Lamu, laughing to their last teeth by the beach. I mean it's not much, and it could be better. But it's not nothing. Right? We are not going to be dollar millionaires, and I guess that's fine, man. We don't have to be to live life. Most of us won't. But we can still be loved. We can still eat and drink. And that's what they call living, man. So I don't want to talk about the latest cars and flashiest watches. I will settle for the occasional laughter God sends my way.
Until I have lost the light in me, then I will join you. But for now, I want to live. I want to wake up with some excitement. I want to exercise, man. I want to dream. I can't be mechanical about it. I am not a car. Just another dude, who a million years from now won't mean shit. But I've got to live. I've got to live.
If your heart is pure and your spirit virgin, you cannot not love someone you once loved. No matter what they do. Love by its very nature is unconditional. If you love, you love unconditionally. If there were conditions, it wasn’t love. That doesn’t mean, however, you could be partners with anybody if you love them, because love, quite frankly and perhaps surprisingly to some, is not enough. Compatibility and “liking” the partner is also required to swear an oath with them. If you truly loved someone and they went away, you can’t ultimately get “over them”. They’ll always occupy a little space in the heart.
I’m gradually developing a thick skin and perfecting my nonchalant skills. If it works, fine… if it doesn’t work, it’s still fine. Life no hard like that.
Because honestly, all that over-caring, saviour-complex, “nice guy to everybody” behavior will only make you age like evaporated milk. You’ll start looking older than your real age while the people you’re trying to please are living their best lives 😂
At this point, peace of mind first. Everything else can queue.
When someone doesn’t fully choose you, your nervous system knows it. Trying to be enough for someone you care about is one of the most draining experiences there is. Choose yourself.
You need more.
People think I'm "patient" and "forgiving."
In reality, I am just terrified of expressing anger because my emotional regulation has exactly two settings:
1. Total Doormat.
2. Scorched Earth Policy where I burn the village and salt the ground.
I stay quiet because Option 2 feels like an overreaction to a dirty dish.
What you most fall in love with in the beginning stages of romance is the projection of your own soul that you have cast onto the other person.
In order for love to survive past this stage, you have to withdraw that projection and learn how to love the person for the mortal, flawed, human they are.
Often people believe they have fallen "out of love" with a person but really they have fallen "out of a projection"
You expected someone outside of you to live your soul life for you, but really that was the task was a journey you needed to take within the depths of your being all along.
2025 was definitely the year of the “SNAKE”… some people showed their true colors the whole year, natural snakes for real. Others shed so many layers off themselves that they can’t ever put those old versions back on. This year was needed though. It exposed a LOT and made you see people and situations for exactly what they were…
