@VCUWSOC_CoachLM I believe it’s much worse on the men’s side. Having an almost completely international roster and marketing to players to come to ID camps is a joke. They have zero interest in high school aged US players.
Got it and agree. I’m not at all saying that’s wrong.
The topic of discussion was the declining opportunities for our 17 and 18 year old high school players.
Regardless of how I personally feel about recruiting agencies and what they are doing to NCAA soccer it’s hard not to acknowledge that older international players are taking some opportunity away from HS players.
@northeastpol @LVHoosierGK It should be age 20 cutoff to start your NCAA career. This lines up with the NCAA rule of having 1 “gap” year after HS for our US born players.
I agree but you rarely mention the substantial impact of older international players coming over that is limiting the opportunity for our HS players. It is now roughly 38% of D1 men’s players are international and a large majority are older than our traditional college players.
I don’t mind international recruiting and actually think it’s good for the game but there needs to be the same rules for eligibility that our US born players have.
A 22 year old that washed out of an academy or professional side should not be able to come over and take the roster spot or scholarship of an 18 year old (domestic or international).
There are bad D1 teams with mostly international players. What is the point??
@DCunited77@ImCollegeSoccer@ImYouthSoccer I’m talking about our 17 & 18 year olds coming out of HS.
Very few obviously make it pro but many want the high level college experience.
The diving is getting pretty bad. Klauss was even taking some dives then complaining on Saturday night.
The Dallas forward getting obstructed by Parker (good tactical foul) below his shoulders then holding his face and mouth for 4 minutes. Is he trying to draw a double minor??
It slows the game sooooo much.
@PlayCollegeSoc Fantastic data!
So the schools with an RPI outside of the top 100 that have almost entirely international teams….what is the point???
You can’t have the same results or better with US born players and give our players more opportunity??
@RamblersMSOC Thank you for putting a focus on US born players and even players close to home.
Way to lead by example and keep alumni and local club support for the years to come.
Ok, do you really think they’re Inter Miami fans for just in the moment wearing stuff the greatest player in the world plays for.
We see Mike Trout wearing Philly Eagles jerseys at the football games all the time. It’s not a big deal.
Noot and Arenado are Cali guys (don’t know about the others).
They’re wearing a hat (they were probably asked to wear for a picture) not out getting arrested or beating women or anything.
Get over it.
