Got to return this gorgeous female prairie #rattlesnake to her densite just as the warm weather was drying up in central Wyoming. Beautiful canyon and a new population for my dissertation on #Venom variation ๐

@DaboiaDiaries I got a small grant from my uni to study venom variation and ecology of the prairie rattlesnake and I've been collaborating with @EMBrandehoff to determine if differences in venom composition correlate with different bite outcomes.
and of course, got to thank the #snakes for their participation in our venom spitting study! Slow motion venom spitting by Naja nubiae - Video credit copyright "The trustees of the Natural History Museum, London and Callum Nair". @CSRIatLSTM@LSTMnews https://t.co/IoujUqOSwN
8 years after first discussing this project, we published today on the consequences the evolution of spitting has had on #venom in cobras. I'm super proud of @TalineKaz for leading this, and the contribution of so many amazing collaborators at @CSRIatLSTM and across the world!
Our latest lab paper, which investigates the utility of antivenom against Russell's viper venoms from SE Asia, is now out in @PLOSNTDs. This project was led by Shane Chaisakul who visited @CSRIatLSTM on a @NewtonFund Travel Award. @LSTMnews@wellcometrust https://t.co/o4vYsnFoGE
One of our own rockstars, ASF's @EMBrandehoff helping to spread the word about #SnakebiteAwarenessDay !! ๐๐๐He has recently comeback from a medical mission in Kindia,Guinea. An area that suffers from about 650 snakebites/yr and now working in partnership with us #snakebite
