Heathlands are home to some fantastic wildlife, many of which only live in this rare habitat!
The Dartford warbler is one of our stars of the heath! Expect to see it perched on gorse bushes whilst singing to mark its territory. It builds a nest very close to the ground and you can help prevent disturbance by sticking to main paths during the breeding season.

Cuckoo flower is now beginning to flower in wet meadows. Also known as Lady's-smock, it begins to flower around the same time as the arrival each spring of the first cuckoos from their wintering grounds in Africa.
