The Backyard Farmer team recently visited Faller Landscape near York, Nebraska, where Todd Faller gave us a tour of his beautiful nursery and showed us some of the best tree options for Nebraska landscapes and beyond.
With over 36 years of experience as a nurseryman, Todd has planted, grown, and evaluated thousands of trees across the Midwest.
While we were there, Todd shared his Top 6 Evergreen Trees for the Midwest — trees that consistently outperform the rest in landscapes, shelterbelts, and windbreaks.

Starting tomorrow, we’ll begin the 6-day countdown of Todd’s top evergreen picks.
Which tree will take the #1 spot?

When @unlagrohort student Ella Jorgensen walks through a landscape, she doesn’t just see petals and stems — she sees possibility. 🌸✨
While working at Campbell’s Nursery, Ella realized that countless gorgeous blooms were being tossed during routine plant care. Instead of letting them go to waste, she started pressing and preserving them — transforming “discarded” petals into earrings, stickers, portraits, and one-of-a-kind botanical art.
Now, through her small business Crusty Leaf Company, Ella turns greenhouse waste into handmade treasures, giving each flower a beautiful second life. 🌿💛
