It’s crazy, and most won’t believe it, but the 4x4x48 Challenge is 90% mental, and 10% physical.

This past run was a great example. I was sore, tired, dehydrated, and sleep-deprived. Physically, I knew I could power through the next run. Mentally, I was in the basement of those feelings, and kept thinking about how much it sucked…

I convinced myself to get on the treadmill and was able to plow through the first mile… Then for the next three miles, I was in a dark place and had to face some familiar demons… There was nothing pretty about it. It sucked.

Once I got through it, I started thinking about all of those negative thoughts I had prior to the run… And they only existed in one place, my head.

The lesson… If you want to do hard things, most of the time, you are more than capable. The excuses that you convince yourself only exist in one place, your head.
