What a brilliant night! We had a wonderful launch event for our exhibition @NNContemporary to celebrate all the amazing work created this past year by participants and artists alike.
@C2CSocialAction@NptonHopeCentre It was so lovely to see participants at the event and to witness their reaction to their art work being shown, with one participant saying 'Ooo, look, my work has pride of place'!
We are proud and delighted to announce that an exhibition which celebrates the ending of this third iteration of Artists in Residence @ will be open at @NNPress NN Contemporary Art on Thursday 4th April, 11am to 5pm.
@NNPress Artists are Emma Davies, Annabelle Shelton, Priya Chohan-Padia, Stuart Moore, Dylan Fox, Emi Fujisawa, Carol Jacobs and Minnie Teckman. The poster features artwork made by participants and Priya Chohan-Padia and will be displayed at the exhibition.
Emi brought in her loom so that participants could have a go at weaving from the Flax grown at the C2C allotment. Discussions took place about the flax plant how it was grown over many months and how it was harvested and produced to use in the workshops.

Minnie Teckman & Emi Fujisawa led the last workshop from a yearlong residency @C2CSocialAction 2023/24.
Minnie decided to continue to grow the sketchbooks that she had made with the participants in a previous workshop.

Introducing a drawing technique ‘Oil pastel transfer’ similar to tracing and mono printing that produces an instant result by creating a flat linear image that can be transferred on to paper. The images for the technique related to animals and plants found at the C2C allotment.
This gave a very subtle sense of movement and suggestions of mobiles, which added to the whimsical mood of the work.
It was fun to consider different compositions and backgrounds before settling on camouflaging the scene within the main pattern of wallpaper. @ace_national
And so it arrives - the last workshop of this residency at Northampton Hope Centre. Led by Priya Chohan-Padia, it was a gentle, relaxing and communal way to end this part of the residency.
Whilst they started out with random shapes, it soon became apparent participants wanted to create a scene and responded to each other's ideas. Foliage, waves, fish and a bird emerged to create a dream-like scene. We joined them together using a combination of eyelets and thread.
