A pessimistic optimist

The dominos fall
in succession, together,
a picturesque mess.

Haven't been carded in a long while.
Got carded tonight at the liquor store.

Buying ginger beer.

The smell of a distant fire,
the smoke of a nearby gaze.
The heat is both
comfortable and dangerous.
You are predictably unpredictable.

They come and they go
like the seasons or the years
but I still miss you

September nightmares
shrivel into the cold earth,
their fall our autumn

What do you get when you cross a helicopter, an elephant, and a rhino?

Hell if I know!

Another oldie for #NationalTellAJokeDay

[C. D. Anders @C_D_Anders]

Two men go to a diner. The waiter asks what they'll be drinking.

Man 1: I'll have some H2O.
Man 2: I'll have some H2O too.

The waiter brings them their drinks.

Man 1:*drinks*
Man 2: *dies*

An old favorite for #NationalTellAJokeDay

I don't want to rush time. I really don't. And I certainly have plenty to read.

But I'll be happy when October 25 and November 22 roll around too.

Smoky old barroom
or the back porch's humidity
don't matter much
when my mind
will find any reason
for anything
to connect
to you

Or is it like Carter Burwell's score for True Grit? I think remember reading that his inspiration for his variations on the southern hymns boiled down to him saying they sounded "spooky."

Watching #TheBatman a second time. The first time watching it, Ave Maria sticks out like sore thumb but it traced back to the news footage. Watching it tonight, I noticed that Alfred was listening to In Paradisum. Anyone have any good theories on the use of those songs? lol

[C. D. Anders @C_D_Anders]

A five dollar bill,
a near empty tank,
a hundred miles left
to plead at the bank,
an hour to go
and little to lose
because "it ain't yours,"
the banker coos.

The stars serenade
