You’d be hard-pressed to find a more botched position group in the league than what Kansas City’s front office has been doing with their WR room the last 5 years. I’m not sure why they continue shopping in the Walmart bargain bins for WR’s but it hasn’t been working at all.
Couple of Chiefs notes from film
-Always a fun reminder that practice does not equal games. Peter Woods found that out. Rams kept game plan simple and just spammed inside the tackles runs and boots so Woods kept getting double teamed. Didn't get many chances to rush the passer either. I'd imagine a good experience for him in game 1. He got to play the entire first half.
-I liked the effort from Thomas when he got to rush the passer. Didn't get many chances. I know the QB hit on the hail mary looked cool but in reality the QB was at 12 yards. He'd normally just step up into the pocket.
-Allen, Smith and Johnson looked fast and quick. They stood out for the skill guys. Just different movers than the rest of the guys on the field. Obviously Smith and Johnson won't be starting but having those backup options is a good thing. Good to see Smith get a chance for more traditional run plays
-Benson looked good at RG. Strong. Didn't face stiff competition but held up well
-Loved the under center run game. Hope that continues this season. The Chiefs have the OL to run the ball well if they commit to it. Will open up so much for the offense.
To think Jac Cags will be the Royals player of the year. In his first full season with the club is amazing to see. He’s gonna knock 30 bombs. Play two positions and be the 3 hitter for years to come.
