@JoachimSchork Loved your post on supervised vs unsupervised learning- particularly the note on unsupervised's interpretability/validation challenges without ground truth.
My new paper introduces a fully deterministic, parameter-free geometric measurement approach for anomaly detection: no tuning, no randomness, CPU-only (up to 200k data pts/sec), explainable via distances/angles, and validated across at least 14 domains with identical code.
Would love your thoughts- does this address some of those pain points in a fresh way?
I had the good fortune to meet Brad after one of their shows about 15 years ago. I hadn’t been too aware of their music except Kryptonite and told him how they really exceeded my expectations as I hadn’t known what to expect. His reaction was one of genuine gratitude that I totally didn’t expect. Brad was the real deal and I’ve always been grateful for the short interaction we had. RIP my friend…
NEW: Raccoon gets drunk at an ABC liquor store in Ashland, Virginia, and passes out in the bathroom.
Hanover County Animal Protection says the raccoon "ransacked" the store before passing out next to the toilet.
"Officer Martin safely secured our masked bandit and transported him back to the shelter to sober up before questioning," Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter said in a statement.
"After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer."

I think the problem is twofold. 100+ years ago the infant mortality rate was far worse than it is now, especially in the wealthiest countries so the need to have 7 children in the hopes that 3-4 survive to adulthood is practically nonexistent. Additionally, the cost of living, especially among those of child bearing age, makes the prospect of multiple children less practical, particularly when home ownership and other expenses make parenting less practical compared to families in the 1940s-1980s, for example.
@iannuttall I have found that for me, it happens in longer interactions and it goes away if I either start a new chat or close and reopen Cursor and resume the chat, though that has limited effect. I suspect it’s related to memory.
