Chloe Childress was a beloved camp counselor at Mystic and a beautiful person with a promising future. Chloe was co-president of the Honor Council, a varsity cross-country runner, and the founder of a service club dedicated to helping senior citizens. She was supposed to attend University of Texas at Austin this fall.

This beautiful soul lost her life in the flood.

It's a quiet Tuesday night in September. The sun has just dropped behind the trees and the sky is streaked with shades of pink and purple. It's a comfortable 75° with a light breeze - a nice evening for a stroll.

I have tears or so many reasons… but mostly, because I am just so very sad about this all. Have I “earned” the right to mourn Johnny Hockey? Maybe not. But my heart mourns him nonetheless. Because he embraced us and we embraced him back. He was ours, and he always will be.
