Photo from 2017 shows 83-year-old retired marine Sgt. William H. Cox standing guard for his buddy, Sgt. James ‘Hollie’ Hollingsworth one last time.
The pair first met while hiding from rockets and mortars in a bunker in 1968.
In the bunker, the two men made a pact. The pact being that if they both survived the war, they would contact one another every year on New Year’s Eve for a chat.
They continued that tradition for the next 5 decades.
Fake arguing with your coach to distract the defense before throwing a half-look pass for a reverse alley-oop to break a 92-92 tie in the final minute of OT in a Sweet 16 game at MSG might be the coolest shit I’ve ever seen
"We’ve seen war. We don’t want war. But if you want war with the United States of America, there’s one thing I can promise you, so help me God: someone else will raise your sons and daughters."
