Ayer nuestro presidente @nfm65 estuvo presente en el cierre del proyecto @Cabfishman en #Bilbao con la presentación de nuevas herramientas para la gestión y valorización de la pesca artesanal.
The brilliant @baskohler summarising an afternoon of discussion, collaboration & innovation at the #CABFISHMANSymposium, incl. ways to address challenges & move forward with the tools created by the project to shape #policy & meaningful support for #SSFs 👇🎉
Stuart Bell shared @marinescotland's plans to better-support #SSFs in future, with a focus on #collaborative management with #fishermen & #CoastalCommunities, wrapping up our policy session with a joint call to action: ‘Accelerating the process is key.’ #CABFISHMANSymposium
As Mark James of @mastscot noted, #displacement is one of the most consistent problems faced across the board in #SSFs, compounded by the lack of voice & empowerment given to the sector within #marine decision making.
Today we asked - "How can we address that?"
Up next, "The Elephants in the Room".
Speakers from across @AtlanticArea#SSfs are discussing the issues troubles and issues their #fisheries are facing: "It's David against Goliath in many ways." @ArantzaMurillas
@AtlanticArea@ArantzaMurillas@CIFA_Scot Norah Parke of Killybeg’s Fishermen's Organisation explained work underway to collaborate with developers & carve out opportunities for #Irish#SSFs within plans for renewable energy development, using evidence & data of fishing effort "to make sure there is space for everybody".
We know that our tools will only have true impact if they are applicable to the #fishermen, #FisheriesManagers & stakeholders who use them.
Discussions are underway in 🇵🇹, 🇬🇧 & 🇪🇸 to explore how the #CAFISHMAN GeoTool can be applied to different #SSFs in the @AtlanticArea ☟
Sébastien Demaneche of @Ifremer_fr is introducing the #CABFISHMAN GeoTool - an interactive, open access tool designed to provide key evidence in support of #CoManagement decisions for #SSFs in the @AtlanticArea - check it out here 👉 https://t.co/hjJPtEuXmP
Happy to be at the #csbfishman final symposium in Bilbao, learning about results, new data & tools to advance on the ecosystemic & multidisciplinary management of #ssf in the Atlantic. Whats not to like? Eager to learn on the details and how practical will be 4 @LIFEplatformEU
Our aim for today is to share the tools & processes created, demonstrate how they can be used across #SSFs in the Northeast Atlantic, & - in some cases - to encourage our stakeholders to continue supporting their development. (3/4)
The #CABFishManSymposium is officially underway! Following 3 years of research & collaboration we’re thrilled to be able to share our key outcomes & processes with the #SmallScaleFisheries community in the @AtlanticArea. (1/4)
From evaluating #CulturalHeritage, developing maps of #fishing effort, & synthesising industry knowledge to inform #impact assessments, #CABFISHMAN’s work has centred on a key aim: to develop tools for managing fisheries that are collaborative & effective. (2/4) @ArantzaMurillas
