If Trump truly possessed any semblance of "common sense," then we would be focusing on finding the cause of this incident rather than continually denigrating American citizens.
As citizens grieve, Trump sows division over unity.
Diversity initiatives were created to rectify long-standing practices of excluding non-whites from public life.
Attempting to blame DEI for this tragedy is another example of misguided hatred of those who do not look like you.
The California Legislative Black Caucus stands ready to protect our people. We will continue to fight for justice, equity, and the well-being of our communities. (4/4)
Trump’s policies will have significant and harmful effects on Black communities. The rollback of diversity, equity, & inclusion initiatives undermines efforts to address historic systemic inequalities. (1/4)
Additionally, eliminating environmental justice initiatives disproportionately impacts Black communities living near heavy industry and polluted areas. It is crucial to recognize the detrimental effects of these policies and advocate for change. (3/4)
Attempting to stop funding for essential services—healthcare, food programs, etc—jeopardizes the wellbeing of countless Black families. Efforts to freeze services for critical programs further exacerbates the challenges faced by many marginalized communities. (2/4)
I had the honor of joining the San Diego Lunar New Year Festival today, celebrating the incredible individuals who’ve made such an impact on the Little Saigon community. It was also great meeting new friends along the way. Happy Lunar New Year!

It’s always a pleasure to join @CABlackCaucus at their annual MLK Jr. Day Breakfast Celebration! Dr. King’s legacy of equality and justice for all communities targeted by unwarranted hate is one that lives on today. #MLKJrDay
Today on his born day I’m reminded Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?”
Honored to attend the @CABlackCaucus MLK Jr. Breakfast Celebration celebrating Black leadership and community impact. Grateful for the opportunity to thank CLBC members, constitutional officers, sponsors, and staff for their dedication to equity and opportunity. #EquityInAction

The CLBC stands in strong condemnation of the despicable comments made by @AlvaradoGil2026. Comparing @SenGonzalez33 to the KKK is dangerous, detestable, and downright dirty. Apologize and do better, respectfully.
We are on day 1 of the new session and Grand Wizard Gonzalez of the Latino Caucus is already in my face. She tried to kick me out of the Senate break room so she could have “privacy”. Uhhh nope. I am a CA State Senator just….like….you…ni que fuera tu pendeja #PowerTakeBackCA
