I recently saw a study that said 80% of high school baseball players end up playing college baseball within 3-4 hours of home. If this is accurate, makes you wonder if all the cross-country travel is really necessary? Thoughts?
Heat Advisories & Extreme Heat Warnings will go in effect at 11 am on Sun AM and run thru Tues PM across much of AR. Heat Index values of 105-109° degrees are expected in advisory areas and 110-115° degrees with the areas under the Extreme Heat Warning. #arwx
A Weather Impact Alert is in effect July 27-28, with mercury expected to climb to 100+ and the heat index surpassing 105 degrees. https://t.co/et2l4llN1r
Coaches, athletic directors, and other decision makers - the wet bulb globe temp (WBGT) peaks at or above 92 for several days next week! (Air temp 100s, heat index 110+).
Very important as we get set to start pre-season camps for football!

Dangerous heat is expected to move back into the state this weekend and last through at least the middle of next week. Temperatures are likely to top out in the upper 90s to near 100 degrees with heat index values feel much hotter. #arwx
Coaches, trainers, players, and parents. Read this forecast closely. This is the WET BULB GLOBE TEMPERATURE for the next few days. This is NOT a temperature measurement, even though the unit is degrees. WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) is a composite measure of environmental heat stress on the human body, combining air temperature, humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation (sun angle and cloud cover).
I support every player to be pushed to get ready for the season, but remember that there are limits and heat is dangerous. The main days we need to watch are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
Good Evening Arkansas!
Hazardous heat will return to the region by next week, beginning on Sunday. Daily high temperatures over 100 degrees and lows only reaching 80 degrees at times will result in a prolonged period of dangerous heat through at least mid-week next week.

Piece of advice for all you HS athletes. When you’re visiting a school that may be interested in you, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT wear another schools gear and your parent should not either. That should be common sense.

SHOCKING 🚨: A growing number of middle school athletes — mostly boys — are intentionally repeating 8th grade to delay their start in high school, giving themselves another full year to get bigger, stronger, and faster, which in turn dramatically boosts their chances at elite high school spots, college scholarships, and massive NIL deals potentially worth millions.
William La Jeunesse: “Of 8M high school students in sports only 7% will play in college.”
“On the other hand, the [likely] number one pick in this year’s NBA draft, [AJ Dybantsa], did 8th grade twice.”
CRAZY IDEA: How about we let more kids be kids!
@CabotAthDept Coaches, Athletic Trainers, School Nurses doing diabetic and medication training. Identifying students with preexisting medical conditions and what their care plan is important before an emergency arises.
The next five days across Arkansas look to begin with a couple of days which will present the opportunity for scattered showers and thunderstorms. However, beyond Thursday, the precipitation chances plummet overall and temperatures will increase as expected. #arwx
Lux Smith Update from his Mother—14-year-old Lux Smith suffered a heat stroke at football practice in Ruston, La., on June 1. He was airlifted to Little Rock and has been in the ICU since. This is a prayer request. Please share:
“Hesitant to share, but sharing in hopes that it’ll make every single person who sees this PRAY for our Lux!
They’re planning to extubate tomorrow. This is our second go with this; we believe he’s ready!
This will be a huge step forward for him ♥️
Pray he is successfully extubated and continues to progress in the right direction from here on! In Jesus Holy name”✨

Arkansas is on track to send $400 million to school vouchers next year. About 100 microschools will get most of it. They can reject any student and don't have to hire certified teachers. What a joke. KMI
