On Saturday, October 14th, starting at 9:13 AM and ending at 12:09 PM, Albuquerque will be a premier place on the continent to experience a rare annular solar eclipse. This “ring of fire” solar eclipse is cause for celebration and watch parties.

For some tribes, it is considered a sacred time to be observed in different ways such as prayer, fasting, or staying indoors and adverting eyes from the outdoors.

In 2019, ABQ became the first city in the U.S. to recognize tribal sovereignty and establish intergovernmental relations with tribes.

Today, we continue strengthening these connections and working with tribal leadership to make our community safer, healthier, and more inclusive.
