Join artist and DJ Tierney Malone for an afternoon listening party inspired by talented musicians with connections to Houston’s historic Third Ward.
The Collective has received a grant from the Phillip and Edith Leonian Foundation to archive our photography collection. Among our collection are some of Louise Martin’s works. Martin was an African American photographer who ran her own studio during the late 1940s for 45 years.
The Community Artists’ Collective celebrates Juneteenth in remembrance of the day the enslaved in Texas were informed of their freedom.
May the sacrifice, endurance and determination of our ancestors never be forgotten.

Sarah Trotty, PhD and co-founder of The Collective, pays tribute to Dr. John T. Biggers, during the two-day centennial at Texas Southern University celebrating his legacy. Dr. Trotty is a TSU retired associate professor of art.

Ernest McMillan, veteran human rights activist, and CAC Executive Director Michelle Barnes will lead a community conversation Saturday, October 28, at 3 p.m. at The Collective. McMillan will sign his book “Standing: One Man’s Odyssey through the Turbulent ‘60s.”
