Trump on Joe Biden (2024): “He has an ability to fall asleep while on camera…in minutes, he’s stone-cold out…You’ll never see me sleeping in front of a camera.”
The end of #FCAS in its current form does not come as a surprise; in fact, it was foreseeable. I have been pointing this out for months: Projects like this can only succeed on equal footing. The French industry claimed a dominant leadership role, while Germany was expected to simply tag along. That was no longer a model of partnership.
The fact that @Dassault_OnAir claimed sole design authority for itself, effectively reducing Airbus to the role of a supplier, is not in Europe’s interest – especially considering that we have invested German taxpayers’ money. The good news is: this money is not lost. The first tranche went into basic research, and we will continue to build on that foundation.
I regret this failure. Not because it is wrong that Chancellor Merz has now pulled the emergency brake, but because an honest, equal partnership with France should always remain our goal. Franco-German cooperation is essential for Europe’s defence capabilities.
A new European cooperation, together with the United Kingdom, Sweden and Spain, now offers an alternative. The fundamental concept of a European sixth-generation fighter aircraft is the right one. Now the implementation must be right as well. This is about Europe’s security. We must finally put an end to national fragmentation and act in the interest of our continent.
BREAKING: HELL YES! The European Union strikes a CRUSHING blow against Jared Kushner's corrupt resort development by warning Albania that it could endanger their efforts to join the EU.
This scandal just shot through the stratosphere...
“Albania should refrain from actions that could undermine the fulfillment of the closing benchmarks and [we] expect the Albanian authorities to act without delay,” stated a spokesperson for the European Commission.
Kushner's multi-billion dollar project has caused nationwide protests in Albania, with massive crowds taking to the streets to demand that their government block the development. As it turns out, the President's crooked son-in-law is reviled all around the world.
The plutocratic project — which includes a $1.4 billion development on an island and a $4.7 billion deal for a stretch of protected coastline — threatens crucial wildlife habitat for flamingos, turtles, and other animals. The protests have been affectionately nicknamed the "Flamingo Revolution." Because of the risk to wildlife, the EU is warning Albania that they may be in violation of the Union's environmental rules if they allow the project to proceed.
“In the EU accession process, as part of the closing benchmarks for negotiating Chapter 27 on environment and climate change, Albania is expected to align fully with EU legislation in this area, including the Birds and the Habitats Directives,” said the EU spokesperson. They called on Albania to rescind its changes to the Law on Protected Areas and "terminate" a law regarding strategic investments.
Most exciting of all, the spokesperson informed POLITICO that Albania's Minister of Environment Sofjan Jaupaj has informed the European Commission that the construction project has been suspended. A full environmental impact assessment will now be conducted.
“We have already expressed our concerns to the minister of the environment about the potential shortcomings of this project,” the spokesperson added.
The wisest path forward here for Albania is self-evident. Kushner's development is deeply unpopular, designed to create another twisted playground for global oligarchs, sex predators, and war criminals. It does nothing for the Albanian people. And on the other hand, admission to the EU will create a brighter economic future for everyone in the country.
If they must choose between the two, Albania has no choice but to reject Kushner.
Please ❤️ and share if you stand with the Albanian people!

Europe Wins Again. Obviously.
Armenia went to the polls yesterday. And the results are exactly what you’d expect if you’d been paying attention for the past five years, rather than wallowing in Kremlin nostalgia like a damp sock.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared victory on Monday, with his Civil Contract Party leading with 52.5% of the vote. Armenia, a landlocked country the size of Belgium that Russia has spent decades treating as a vassal state, has looked at its options and made a decision that required roughly the same level of intellectual effort as choosing between a Michelin-starred restaurant and a skip fire.
They chose Europe.
This election was less a routine vote than a referendum on Pashinyan’s post-2020 course reducing dependence on Russia and moving toward an explicit European orientation. And Russia, naturally, did everything in its power to stop it. According to Reuters, citing Western intelligence officials, the election faced heavy Russian covert interference, including disinformation campaigns and a plan to transport Russian Armenians into Armenia to sway the vote. One analyst collective described it as one of the largest state-backed disinformation campaigns in modern European history. And Armenia still told them to get lost.
Putin had already warned Armenia it would face economic consequences for drifting westward, and introduced restrictions on Armenian agricultural exports in the weeks before the vote. Threats, propaganda, economic blackmail. The full Russian toolkit. Result: irrelevant.
Now, Trump, Tucker Carlson and JD Vance would like you to believe that Russia represents some superior civilisational model. A proud, white, Christian fortress holding the line against the Muslim hordes supposedly swamping Europe. It is a compelling narrative, in the same way that flat earth theory is compelling if you ignore every single fact available to you.
Here is one such fact: between 10 and 15 percent of Russia’s own population is Muslim. Tatars, Bashkirs, Chechens, Ingush, Dagestanis. Millions of them. Russia is, by its own demographic reality, a multi-ethnic, multi-faith state with a larger Muslim population than most of Western Europe. But you’re not supposed to know that. It complicates the story.
Meanwhile, the Muslim share of the EU population sits at around 5 percent. But the Tucker Carlsons of the world need you frightened, so the numbers get quietly shuffled off stage.
So Armenia joins the queue. Behind Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, and every Eastern European country that isn’t currently run by a Slovak who seems to have wandered in from a Moscow focus group. The pattern is not subtle. Every country that has actually experienced Russian influence in practice is sprinting in the opposite direction. The only nation currently moving toward Russia’s orbit is the United States, which managed to elect a man whose foreign policy instincts were apparently shaped by a property developer’s admiration for strongmen with good buildings.
The world watches America and hopes it finds its way back. Most people think it will. Eventually. The damage, however, is already considerable, and democracy, like a soufflé, does not always survive rough handling.
Armenia made its choice. The right one. Obviously.

In London yesterday, France, the UK, Germany and Ukraine drew a red line: peace cannot be dictated by Moscow. First, a full ceasefire. Then talks starting from the line of contact, with no border changed by force and Ukraine free to choose its alliances. Security guarantees must be legally binding. Europe’s safety is inseparable from Kyiv’s sovereignty. As European Democrats, we say it clearly: support Ukraine, pressure Russia, defend peace with strength.
