Oh for Christ sake. It was one thing when it was 80ft flags but this is just getting stupid now. You don’t boost belief in the union by forcing it down peoples throats…
Before TV went 24 hours, both Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau and God Save The Queen were played at closedown.
I’d love to see this revived. What better way to celebrate our United Kingdom? 🏴🇬🇧
@Seimon_Brooks_ The logical extension of this view to me is to point out that the ‘Britishness’ that our forebears bought into is the one which has been so obviously corrupted recently. I don’t think Wales has drastically moved, instead Britain is now more demonstrably English than it was.
If anyone wonders what’s behind the rise of nationalism in Wales, what’s fuelling it in a way not seen since Glyndwr, it’s this incomprehensible ‘know your place and stay down’ BS. It doesn’t represent English people’s thoughts or those of the Welsh, but it pours fuel on a fire.
Wales was conquered by Edward I and subjugated to hundreds of years of abuse, language bans & organised attempts at stripping the culture and heritage that had made Wales a nation. The wealth of resources was stolen to fund an empire. Now it’s all ‘yeah but we subsidise you 1/2.
Trying to have a relax & break for Christmas and much needed break from work is genuinely difficult when your entire social media feed consists of people & politicians even at local level either unknowingly, or worse knowingly, talking absolute bollocks and trying to point-score.
@henrysaye@JonyWestwood@rogersmall666@PrifWeinidog@WelshGovernment Agreed, but you do that quietly and through channels or mediums that will work. Standing up publically will just fuel the trolls and those with an axe to grind against those minorities, it won’t bring them around to the correct side of the discussion.
@henrysaye@JonyWestwood@rogersmall666@PrifWeinidog@WelshGovernment Nothing to ‘keep up’ with. You’re shifting your point of discussion to vaccination uptake and ad hominem because you don’t have any evidence that anyone has any kind of agenda, despite a second attempt at saying there is. I think we can agree to disagree from here tbh.
@henrysaye@JonyWestwood@rogersmall666@PrifWeinidog@WelshGovernment No I don’t think that’s fair at all. He’s consistently followed the advice given to him by Frank Atherton. England was advised by sage to do similar (if not more) before Christmas and Boris refused. There is nothing in evidence to suggest there’s any agenda either now or previous
@henrysaye@JonyWestwood@rogersmall666@PrifWeinidog@WelshGovernment Honeslty we could do this all day and it’s a bit pointless. Your definition of common sense is different, that’s fine. As long as you respect that your view isn’t one shared by others, including SAGE, the independent version and the majority of other countries in Europe…
@henrysaye@JonyWestwood@rogersmall666@PrifWeinidog@WelshGovernment I get the confusion in the rules, have some sympathy with that view. Problem is that they can’t afford to close the clubhouses and pubs because unlike UK gov they can’t direct borrow. A Wales only enquiry would similarly cost ££ Welsh gov doesn’t have & Drakeford is a unionist.
