@MrsCzar23@MsKass1@korytellers@TheAmandaGorman It’s meant to be a dialogue with input from interested stakeholders, including knowledgeable librarians. The process of building libraries and school curricula is meant to be open and reflective of broad-ranging community values. Stand up, speak out!!
Dear Ma & Pa MAGA,
donald trump didn’t lower your taxes. He didn’t get your roads fixed or your bridges built. He didn’t get you healthcare coverage, lower the price of your prescriptions, decrease the deficit, end the opioid crisis, revive the coal industry, he didn’t make “covid disappear”, didn’t make Mexico “pay for the wall”, he didn’t “put America First” and he sure as hell didn’t “drain the swamp”.
So when you say he “fought for you”, you mean he validated your hate.
Because he didn’t do a goddamn thing for you other than that.
He hates who you hate.
And sadly, that’s all you think you need.
@edifiedlistener Hello? Yes. Feeling good rhetorically doesn’t cut it. Interrogating, dismantling, and reworking systems with equity and accessibility is the goal.
@heymrsbond @Jess5th Oof. I totally hear you. I never thought I’d be glad to be retired, but I am relieved to have missed this particular set of shit show years. I hope you are able to find moments, however small, of magic still.
@teachkate Totally wanted to listen in, but was instantly overwhelmed when I ”tuned in.” Yikes! Audio only challenges me. I am sure you all had many interesting things to say!!
@naomicfisher Thank you, @naomicfisher My adult son faced what he perceived to be an unkind, competitive, capitalist, oddly and rigidly normed culture most of his life. Trauma-informed understandings like those you have voiced here are wise and honoring. He could not stay in this brutal world.
