While we eagerly await the official notification, I sincerely hope that Govt of Maharashtra will extend restaurant timings to at least 11pm on all days of the week. Extending till 9pm on weekdays will be too little & too late!

Misplaced priorities or wrong advise...whatever it is, it hurts the most vulnerable class. Allowing Actors, cricketers and the political class the freedom to carry on with their lives while restricting waiters, cooks, housekeepers, counter boys, ushers etc is beyond logic.

Asking restaurants to shut at 8pm is almost like asking them to shut fully. 75%-80% of our biz happens during dinner. Only lunch with 50% seats utilisation is unsustainable.

To be shut and asked to pay full license fee in advance for next year is grossly unfair too.

Why is it ok to sit close to a stranger for three hours but not ok to sit at a restaurant table with your family? Or to ride pillion with your wife? Either we have 6 foot distancing or not.

We need to stop being so alarmist abt what happened with one of the staff at a Mumbai restaurant. It could have happened to someone working in your local grocery store but you never knew coz they’re not on Instagram. This is our new normal and we have to learn to live with it.
