The police and RSPCA did nothing to help them. We begged for 3yrs. We were compelled to shut this down without any help but these men remain unpunished for their actions because the AWA2006 is not protecting Greyhounds and we demand to know why. Will you take action?
Public sentiment and legal recognition of animal sentience have led to a steady decline in commercial racing worldwide. Over forty U.S. states have prohibited greyhound racing, leaving the industry almost entirely phased out in North America. Today, organized commercial tracks operate primarily in England , Ireland and Australia though all face increasing parliamentary scrutiny, calls for phase-outs, and independent inquiries regarding animal welfare transparency.
"When racehorses are killed on the track, there is no moment of silence held in their honour. Instead, the killing is hidden behind a green screen, and racetrack personnel work as quickly as they can to clear the track, to keep the delay of the following race as brief as possible. Meanwhile, any evidence of the incident is being erased from the public video recording of the race" - @hrseracingkills

It is time for the abuse of these beautiful animals to end and for the Wentworth Park site to, finally, become a place of peace and respect for all animals, humans and the environment

Joanna Byrne TD: The veterinary code of conduct prohibits vets from carrying out surgical insemination in dogs due to welfare considerations. However, this does not apply to greyhounds. I and Sinn Fein believe it should https://t.co/GeOlOUz0PJ @martinheydonfg Ban Surgical AI
Greyhounds primarily get injured because of the extreme physical forces generated when running up to 45 mph around tight, curved tracks, combined with high-speed collisions between dogs.
The main ways these injuries happen include:
* Extreme stress on bends: Racing tracks are oval, and dogs run counter-clockwise. Taking sharp turns at top speed creates massive centrifugal force. The legs on the outside (especially the right hind leg) take tremendous torque and impact to steer the dog, often causing fractures in the hock (ankle), wrist joints, and toes.
* Crowding and collisions: All dogs instinctively dive toward the inside rail to take the shortest path around bends. At peak speed, dogs easily clip heels, bump into each other, or get tripped up. This causes violent tumbles, leading to broken legs, neck trauma, or spinal damage.
* Explosive acceleration: Launching out of the starting box requires immediate, maximum power. This sudden burst puts severe strain on the muscles and tendons, frequently tearing the gracilis muscle (in the thigh) or back muscles.
* Track surface irregularities: A surface that is too hard sends harsh shockwaves up the bones on every stride. A surface that is too soft, deep, or uneven can catch a dog's foot, twisting the joint and snapping toes or tearing ligaments.
It always amazes us that the pro-racing community claims until they're blue in the face that greyhounds aren't killed because of racing, yet in the next breath, industry CEOs admit thousands are destroyed every year. #YouBetTheyDie
Why is the Government pumping more than €20 million into greyhound racing while animal welfare concerns continue to mount?
Jennifer Whitmore argues that Budget 2027 shows just how far down the government's list of priorities animal welfare really is.

@TheValleyTrack constantly try to big up their limited contribution to local economy, but their accounts for 2025 show average number employees of Valley Greyhound Ltd was just 3! Even to us this seems improbably low. How do they manage to pay the rest of their staff? @HMRCgovuk@WGRural #cutthechase #bangreyhoundracing #petsnotbets #GBGBStories
Ireland's cruel hare coursing Shame on Heritage Minister @JamesBrowneTD for licensing this barbarity. Irish Hares should be protected, not persecuted #Ireland#AnimalCruelty
Actress Pauline McLynn encourages you to say NO to greyhound racing. Greyhounds are overbred, injured, drugged, discarded, killed. #Ireland#BanGreyhoundRacing
Reform MS @Cai_ParryJones thinks greyhounds are "happy" when they crash at high speed @TheValleyTrack. Perhaps he should ask @GreyhoundBoard to publish the injury & death data for the track they previously refused to hand over to Senedd Members. #cutthechase #bangreyhoundracing #petsnotbets #GBGBStories
Update: a 90 day right hock "injury"- if it's a fracture say it's a fracture
The death track at Ballarat Victoria just now, Rolling Express trying to run on what looks like a fracture - will have to wait for report.
