Privileged to know Dan Popplewell when he wrote this as part of @themagictheatre 'London Town' album. Featuring the gorgeous vocals of Sophia Churney, this is a classic. 10 years on, I'm living every word of 'Summer Sun' and finally happy... https://t.co/y9yRqcixF2 via @YouTube

"No two trees - no two leaves - are ever exactly alike. No plant - no flower - ever perfectly symmetrical. Repetition, yet with a slight difference. Variety, yet with conformity. This is how we expect it. This is how we love it. This is beauty." ~ C.R.Milne #nature #autumn #trees

Enoch Powell's ‘Rivers of Blood’ Speech: The Truth They Never Told You | Simon Heffer

Historian, author and House of Lords member Simon Heffer joins me to revisit Enoch Powell and his infamous ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech.

Simon, who knew Powell personally and wrote his official biography, reveals the story behind the speech, why the establishment turned against him, and how the media shaped his legacy.

A conversation about mass immigration, integration, grooming gangs, two-tier policing, and whether Britain is experiencing the unrest Powell warned about nearly 60 years ago.

A new report calling on the Church of England to stop wasting money on "extravagant" Net Zero and reparations projects and refocus on parishes echoes what front-line clergy have been saying for years, says Julian Mann. https://t.co/rYarfPq1JK

A reminder in Dec 2023 when an ashen @SebGorka emerged after watching Hamas' own videos of the atrocities they committed on 7 Oct.

A man beheaded alive with a garden hoe, the bodies of dead babies, one in Mickey Mouse 🐭 pajamas.

He wishes Bibi @netanyahu will kill them all & "God bless Judeo-Christian civilisation." ✡️ ✝️

On St. Crispin's Day, October 25, 1415, an outnumbered English army under King Henry V won at Agincourt.

Shakespeare gave him the greatest speech on brotherhood:

"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers."

It still stirs the heart.

Was the Scottish Parliament a huge mistake? Has it just created another layer of very well-paid non-jobs for the favoured few?

@QcWynter I can hear The Meters soundtracking Colin’s new look. None cooler..

Janice Turner in the Times, serves it cold to Sally Rooney.
"Rooney’s work brims with jaded ennui: achievement is empty, love problematic, sex just a serotonin blip before postcoital gloom. Beautiful World, Where Are You? whines the title of her third novel. I’ve met young Ukrainians under nightly Russian drone attack who find more laughter and joy in life than her privileged, Mogadoned nihilists.
The longing to feel something — anything — defines her characters and her own life. But now, at 35, Rooney has found meaning at last. The cause of Palestine is “to join in something greater than our selves, to participate in some small way in a struggle for human liberation”. Gaza is not about the suffering of a people but Rooney’s self-realisation."
https://t.co/apFeabUfKZ

If you are an acclaimed, voice-of-a-generation novelist there are infinite practical ways to deploy your fame and money to aid Gaza’s hungry, injured and displaced. But Rooney has chosen one that gives her the ultimate prize: pain-free public martyrdom.

@MissLauraMarcus Exactly that, Laura. The manual I still don’t get it. Mines a combination of buttons to press which each time I say I will remember. And each time I don’t. Then it beeps & flashes. Much later I will get there but for the moment, I’m cowering at the other end of the house..😅

I really think this is the most important project on X right now. Should have millions of followers.

We will continue reading the Great Books until morale improves.

This week a self-described "influential think tank", the IPPR, advised that the "UK must seek EU membership”. Charlotte Gill was not surprised to find it was funded by George Soros and the European Climate Foundation. https://t.co/EjIyLuMSrV

@Figuregirl1977 @Stormmaker77 You will make Scotland - and so many out here - very proud. Getting there is a massive achievement in itself. The very best of luck! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✊🏻

A country cannot survive if it targets the leader of its bravest defenders.

We don’t know how lucky we are to have the SAS - because they don’t tell us how many lives they save or how dangerous the work they do.

The rot runs very deep.
