1/ On the EU Giving Up
I watched a panel on AI (machine learning) at a conference hosted by the European Commission.
9 people on the panel
Everyone agreed that the USA was 100 miles ahead of EU in machine learning and China was 99 miles ahead except for those who believed...
Today, I would call BCH mostly a failure. My main takeaway: communities formed around a rebellion, even if they have a good cause, often have a hard time long term, because they value bravery over competence and are united around resistance rather than a coherent way forward.
In March the Federal Government spent $927 billion, yet only collected $268 billion in official taxes. We didn't get $659 billion worth of government spending for free. The public will pay the balance through the #inflation tax. That means consumer prices are headed much higher.

Novel technologies and manias create the best opportunities for scammers.
Being ahead in knowledge gives you a huge advantage, to be able to judge things with confidence.
@Masonackk@JBTheCryptoKing I didn't know him, just saw someone who is legit retweeting this. I have no doubt about many many claims on CT being false, what fascinates me is that many believe things without question. It's also amazing that he didn't even scrollback to check the price, before posting this.
@Substr8Monopoly@lexfridman I believe we will have a breakthrough or two in the 21st century, but that won't be enough for something that we are talking about. That's just my prediction, I'll be happy if yours comes true. Also I think AGI is really dependent on our understanding of the brain.
@Substr8Monopoly@lexfridman Interactive, simulated reality on neural level? Hm, I think that's wild to excpect in a 100 years. (On sensory level, it not even be possible). Would need multiple huge breakthroughs in understanding of our brain. Progress is really slow there since decades.
