@JennyMcLachlan1 We read Land of Roar in the autumn as our first class novel and absolutely loved it! Lots of children have bought and read the sequel as they were so inspired. We’d love to arrange a virtual visit from you if possible?
@JennyMcLachlan1 We'd love to have you virtually visit our Y2 class, we read Land of Roar and loved it so much! Can't DM... Can you follow us back please?
We really enjoyed our science investigation this afternoon. We used a fair test to determine which materials were absorbent and which were waterproof. Lots of great science vocabulary being used!
We also learnt how to create tints by adding colour to white and created some amazing winter backgrounds. We'll be finishing these next week so watch this space!
Some fantastic art in Calder today. We've been learning about shades. Today we added a skyline to our shades painting from a previous lesson to create some amazing Great Fire of London art.
So proud of our fantastic double page spreads on Significant Nurses. Children have pulled together all their knowledge from our history learning, portrait drawing skills from art and understanding of non-fiction features from English. An amazing end to the term!
We've been spending a lot of time getting to know the story of The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. Now the children are editing the story map to help them create their own stories. They have some amazing ideas!
This afternoon we practiced some watercolour skills, then used them to create amazing cover pages for our Theme Books. Watch this space for the finished artwork!
We've had a fantastic day today! We had our first visit to the new school library and have each chosen a book to take home and read with our families. Please send library books in each Friday as we are already looking forward to next week's visit :-)
Calder Class are a fantastic team, who love to help and support each other. Looking forward to seeing how many of these goals we can achieve this year!
