Nach einiger Zeit des Nachdenkens ist für mich der Zeitpunkt gekommen, meine Karriere in der Nationalmannschaft zu beenden und den Weg für die junge Generation frei zu machen. 🇩🇪

Als ich 2014 das erste Mal das DFB-Trikot getragen habe, hätte ich es mir in meinen Träumen nicht ausmalen können, dass daraus am Ende 86 Länderspiele werden. 

Auch wenn der große Titel bei den letzten Turnieren ausblieb und wir manche schmerzhafte Niederlage hinnehmen mussten, war diese Zeit für mich ein extrem besonderes Kapitel, das mich für immer prägen wird.

Ein riesiges Dankeschön geht an:

Meine Teamkollegen: Für jeden gemeinsamen Zweikampf und den Zusammenhalt in Kabine und Quartier – und vor allem für die Freundschaften, die weit über den Fußball hinaus bleiben werden.

Das gesamte Trainer- und Betreuerteam: Danke für das jahrelange Vertrauen und die Arbeit hinter den Kulissen. Ein besonderer Dank geht an Jogi Löw, Hansi Flick und Julian Nagelsmann, die mich auf meiner Reise beim DFB begleitet und geprägt haben.
