@KaitlynSchiess I’m my book, the season for Christmas music in the secular world is now. Decorations start now as well. We just wait until Advent for Advent music, and we get Christmas music for 2 weeks in church. Also, kids Christmas production practice should now be going in full.
@ifffster It’s complicated. Basically I deal with it by saying that the Bishop of Rome does not inherit Peter’s chair, but that the keys of the kingdom are passed to all Bishops through apostolic succession. Thus there is not one person necessary for unity of the body, but a communion is.
This morning I finished reading The Ballot and the Bible by @KaitlynSchiess and enjoyed my first pumpkin spice latte of the fall. It was a good morning.
@KaitlynSchiess I think I disagree. Less hot Jesuses isn’t the answer. We just need more not hot Jesuses. A lower percentage of Jesuses should be hot, but we don’t need to get rid of hot Jesuses to make that happen.
@erichoke My iPhone 11 that has been running perfectly the last 27 months continues to run perfectly. You’d think that if it was Apple deliberately downgrading your iPhone my older model would degrade faster.
@KaitlynSchiess For me, 29 was a year of healing and recovery from 27 which was 2020 and 28 which was when I left vocational ministry. It was good to prepare me for 30, my present year, when I have true friends and a great community.
This little guy and his sibling have decided my garden is a good place to live. Their cuteness is the only thing keeping me from making them move outside the fence and back where the foxes roam.
@josephmljr And I say this as a single guy who eats most meals alone. But I try to make sure at least 2x a week I am eating with someone with whom I disagree on something. And I always work to include foods for those on special needs diets at pot lucks.
@josephmljr That’s exactly why I used that language. Eating together is what ancient cultic rituals were often about. This is contrasted, in contemporary culture, with the drive thru window/door dash where the sacrifice is made for the individual instead of the life of the community.
@josephmljr Absolutely. Group identities are harder to find, and it is harder to be welcomed into the group without entirely conforming to the perceived morality of the moment. It’s individuality that not only sees the self as distinct, but also rejects the other that is similar.
@KaitlynSchiess@SkyeJethani @HolyPostPodcast @philvischer It is a Duke thing because all the people go to Duke; it’s a byproduct of going to an Anglican Church in Durham. What isn’t explained is why PHD programs need a modern foreign language when google translate exists.
@KaitlynSchiess@SkyeJethani @HolyPostPodcast @philvischer I look forward to the explanation, because I know several people learning it and no one can explain why Duke requires it.
