🇲🇽🇰🇷 Hoy juegan México y Corea del Sur, pero no es su primer encuentro. El primero se dio el 4 de mayo de 1905, cuando un buque coreano llegó al puerto de Salina Cruz con 1033 coreanos contratados para trabajar en Yucatán.

Se considera a este el primer contacto oficial entre ambas naciones (aunque no haya sido entre gobiernos, cuyo vínculo diplomático formal recién llegaría con Corea del Sur en 1962, ya con la partición hecha).

Pocos meses después del arribo, Corea terminó de perder su soberanía y fue anexada por Japón. La posibilidad de volver para esos inmigrantes se desmoronó: quedaron varados, sin un país que los respaldara. Nunca regresaron.

Hoy hay unos 50.000 mexicanos de ascendencia coreana, muchos en Yucatán todavía con apellidos coreanos.

Ariana Grande is expanding her philanthropic efforts with the launch of the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation, focusing on youth mental health, arts education and community support causes.

“I am beyond excited to finally announce the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation,” said Grande in a statement. “Our mission is to support, protect, and provide resources for our vulnerable friends in need. Through four different funds, we will be supporting handfuls of incredible organizations that provide the safe space and care that is desperately needed by so many right now. It has been my privilege to be able to support these causes on my own over the years, and I’m grateful to now be able to expand that reach and amplify the life-saving work that these organizations do through the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation.”
