It makes my heart hurt and brings tears to my eyes when I realize how much we have let them down.

They fought on distant shores and sacrificed their lives to make sure we wouldn't have to fight our enemies on American soil.

But what do our leaders, who took an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic" and "secure the Blessings of Liberty," do?

They bring our enemies to live among us.

They financially support our enemies with free housing, free food, free income, and free healthcare with our tax dollars.

They prioritize our enemies over hard-working American taxpayers.

To be clear: Islamists and their beliefs, laws, and culture are against everything The Constitution and Western Civilization represents.

Islamists are the enemy and millions of them are here.

Yesterday ended up being a bit deflating, but I remain hopeful that Lucy will be home soon. My attorney actually told me on Thursday that Lucy may have been released as soon as that afternoon, but as Friday afternoon rolled into evening, I started to realize that they weren't going to let her out until Monday at the earliest.

It feels like they are just trying to twist the knife one last time. They may be the case, but I'm not completely sure. It could just be that government is doing what government does all the time: move at the glacial speed of bureaucracy.

That animal welfare check, however, seemed perfectly timed to send us a message - we may have won this round, but they aren't going to stop.

Using social media to expose their machinations to the light is good, but I plan to start taking concrete, legal steps to stop this bullying on Monday.

The law in this country should not be a tool to advance only the interests of the well-connected.

It's frustrating as we go into this weekend, but I look to Monday for good news.

Yeah, sure, Donald Trump has totally taken the joy out of America’s 250th anniversary. That’s the pathetic lie the sniveling, power-hungry Democrats are shoving down everyone’s throat because they got demolished in the election and still can’t cope with reality.

This should be the biggest, loudest, most badass celebration of 250 years of the greatest nation in human history. Instead, the Democrats and their talentless Hollywood ass-kissers are doing everything possible to strangle the fun out of it like the miserable, vindictive pricks they are. Trump pushed real plans, massive events, the Great American State Fair, concerts, fireworks, pure American pride. What happened? A parade of washed-up musicians turned tail and ran, crying like little bitches: “It’s too Trumpy! We were tricked!” Give me a fucking break. These same frauds would be deep-throating the microphone for free if Kamala or Biden were in charge. Their TDS is so terminal they’d rather crap all over America’s birthday than share a stage with anything that smells like a Trump win. The Democrats didn’t just lose,they got humiliated.

Now they’re throwing the mother of all temper tantrums, boycotting, whining, and media-smearing nonstop to make sure nobody enjoys this milestone. They don’t want a joyful 250th. They want the whole country to feel as dead and depressed as their political future. These divisive, democracy-denying parasites would burn the celebration to the ground if it meant scoring two minutes of anti-Trump airtime. Trump floating a giant MAGA rally in its place? Damn right. At least real Americans will show up ready to party instead of sulking in their safe spaces like the fragile snowflakes on the left.

If the 250th anniversary feels joyless and toxic, don’t blame Trump. It felt good to be off social media yesterday. Things are in the works, that's all I can say for now. Negotiations are ongoing with the DA. My attorney choked me up yesterday when he sent me an email that was just one line: "Let's get Lucy home."

I spent the day with the kids at the park while @Herb_Minstrel gave voice lessons at home, going over with pen and paper what I had feverishly typed up thus far about Lucy, the makings of what I hope will be a story with some appeal beyond just myself and my little family.

Things just jump out at me on paper in a way they don't on a screen.

I'm writing this as a way to protect her, in my own way, from anything like this ever happening again. She's kind of famous right now, but it's the 15-minutes-of-fame sort of notoriety.

I want to lock that in. I want to make Lucy untouchable. I fell into a trap once that has made her vulnerable. I'm doing everything I can right now to make her invincible for the rest of her life.

If I fail to convey Lucy's story in a way that has broad appeal, then at least I hope to have a personal story to add to our family lore, where it will be valued by the people who know and matter most, the same way I treasure all of the songs my wife wrote me to get me through the terror and tedium overseas.

This will probably be another quiet day from me as I scribble lines on paper, cross them out, work them and rework them over and over - and do it all in those quiet moments when the kids aren't fighting with each other or getting into trouble or making messes and getting loud.

Thank you all for your support of me and Lucy for these past several weeks. It means the world.
