Two Sanford (N.C.) men were sentenced on April 4 to charges stemming from a shooting that left a man permanently injured. Robert Bernard Fox III, 22, and Jonel Shamar Headen Jr., 21, made pleas that were signed by Lee County Superior Court Judge C. Winston Gilchrist.

Driver of a Ford Excursion that crashed on US 340 in Charles Town, W.V., has died. Charles Town Police reported today that Mark Martin, 68, of Knoxville, Md. died April 27. He was ejected from his vehicle and transported to a medical facility following the crash on April 18.

Mark Anthony Kowalik successfully defended himself at trial against 8 felony rape charges and 1 misdemeanor assault charge. The jury reached a not guilty verdict on Jan. 20 in a case prosecuted by the State Mary's state's attorney. Suzanne Houle was one of his defense attorneys.
