I’m not going to comment on his past relationships every time they’re brought up because none of us were in them. The reality is nobody knows the full story and complexities except the people involved.

As for the transphobia accusations… I completely understand why the fan who requested “trans rights” was upset. But not writing political statements is not the same thing as opposing them. Zayn also didn’t write Urdu messages and even lyrics from his own songs. The rule was clearly broader than one specific issue.

What continues to disappoint me is how quickly some people use moments like this as an excuse to unleash racism, prejudice and hatred they’ve clearly been waiting to express.

People tell on themselves far more than they realise.
