Quevin had joined us for Ballers in God Pro Meetings, gathering alongside other professional footballers around a shared faith in Jesus. This one feels especially close to home. One of Quevin’s final Instagram stories simply said: “Jesus is King.” Our thoughts and prayers are with Quevin’s family, friends, teammates and everyone who knew and loved him. Quevin Castro has sadly passed away at the age of 25 after collapsing during a match in Portugal. Castro went down during the first half of Real Sport Clube’s pre-season friendly against top-flight side Estrela da Amadora at the Estadio das Seixas in Lisbon on Saturday. The Lisbon Football Association (AFL) later confirmed that Castro had passed away during the friendly. The former Sporting CP academy player joined West Brom in 2021, making his debut against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup. He went on to represent several clubs in England before returning to Portugal last summer. Real Sport Clube paid tribute to Castro, describing him as much more than a player and a hugely valued member of their football family. Thoughts are with Quevin Castro’s family, friends, teammates and everyone who knew him during this incredibly difficult time. 🙏
