I made a donation to the Chicago Park District to honor my love’s legacy and to plant new life into his favorite place in the world:

I didn’t expect it to be planted until next spring, so you can imagine the joy and grief that came when I received the email that it had been planted right on time for Thanksgiving; his favorite holiday!

Snooks spent so many days of his life here, with Carlos, with friends, with all of us!
He would tell me going to hidden was therapy, a distraction, just pure bliss.

I haven’t stopped crying since I opened the email, so when I made my way to the tree this morning and was greeted by a cardinal and sunny skies I was reminded of how much I’ve learned to smile and laugh even if there is tears on my face, even if my heart is shattered.

I was reminded that his energy lives on all around us that love him so much!

Because love and joy coexist …
Because I believe in miracles
I will smile and cry this holiday ☺️
