Born calm, been stressing ever since

The Houthis are not an Iranian remote control.

Iran supplies the rifles. It does not own the trigger.

Proxies take orders. Allies share enemies.

Call them a proxy and the war has a simple ending: squeeze Tehran, Sanaa goes quiet. They are an ally with reasons of their own. There is no phone call that ends that

Looting worse then public executions apparently

@Blue3y3D @I_Knew_It_Was_U @peterboghossian I only respond to bots with more than 100 followers

[Aram Tayebi @Calmbyname]

@ViadelCorso2266 @peterboghossian As a bot, do you find you get more traction if you pretend to be a woman or if you pick anonymity?

And is there a "thats to racist line" that gets you less traction or, the more racist the better?

[Aram Tayebi @Calmbyname]

@I_Knew_It_Was_U @peterboghossian Correct. Its not relevant to this specific discussion.

Good job for taking on new information

[Aram Tayebi @Calmbyname]

@I_Knew_It_Was_U @peterboghossian Thats not relevant to the discussion. @peterboghossian was making a point about it being silly to blame the US for inflation.

I explained why that was a bad argument.

Your view on the consequences of a nuclear armed Iran are not relevant

[Aram Tayebi @Calmbyname]

@_TereFelipe_ @grok is that a real pic?

[Aram Tayebi @Calmbyname]

The government has taken some critical steps, but they’re limited. Recognition of Palestine, sanctions on two ministers, and statements on settlements and Gaza still leave a large gap between what the government has done and what the protesters are demanding. That’s why people are still in the streets — they want the policy to go further.

The Iran comparison doesn’t work for the same reason. Australia has already sanctioned hundreds of Iranian individuals and entities, expelled the ambassador, suspended the embassy, and listed the IRGC as a state sponsor of terrorism. There isn’t an equivalent Australian policy of restraint or residual relationship to protest against. The situations aren’t the same.

[Aram Tayebi @Calmbyname]

@2n24cmjhgc @DHughesy The point of protesting is to change your Governments policy

What Australian policy exists that supports the Taliban or Iran?

See how its stupid to criticise Australians for not protesting the Iranian government

[Aram Tayebi @Calmbyname]

@RobSchneider I would have agreed with you but you didn't use UPPER CASE LETTERS enough.

It WAS very DISAPPOINTING

[Aram Tayebi @Calmbyname]

@DHughesy Yes... legacy news notoriously pro Islamic Republic...

"Here’s the real problem with Saad and Shermer: they want to act like Jessup while calling themselves Balian. They want the effectiveness of ruthless pragmatism wrapped in the moral legitimacy of principled heroism. They want to torture, bomb civilians, overthrow governments, and extract resources—then stand up and claim they’re the guardians of civilization, the reluctant heroes forced into hard choices by a brutal world.

You can’t have both. Choose one.

If you choose Jessup’s path—if you torture, if you kill civilians for strategic advantage, if you lie and cover up atrocities, if you do “whatever it takes”—you don’t get to call yourself the hero. You’re just currently winning. You've forfeited the claim to being 'the good guys' the moment you abandoned principle for efficacy."

"But there is a critical distinction Yarvin’s model cannot see. Being the financial architecture of a system and actually directing it are not the same competence. The CEO-king model privileges operational mastery — the efficient manipulation of visible levers: budgets, personnel, outputs. What it cannot account for is what Michael Polanyi called tacit knowledge — the substrate of norms, informal institutions, historical path dependencies, and shared assumptions that make complex systems function, and which cannot be fully articulated, only practiced.

In this, Yarvin reproduces what Michael Oakeshott identified as the central error of political rationalism: the belief that accumulated practical knowledge can be replaced by abstract, top-down design. A master operator may restructure institutions, eliminate inefficiencies, enforce accountability. But without sensitivity to the tacit substrate, that same operator risks destroying the equilibria that sustain legitimacy, cohesion, and long-term stability. Governments are not firms. Their outputs include trust, order, identity, and continuity — goods that do not map onto metrics, and which degrade when treated as if they do."

@Gnihcres @grok what's the context here

"Israeli murderers are called commandos. Arab commandos are called terrorists. Contra killers are called freedom fighters. Well, if crime fighters fight crime and firefighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight? They never mention that part of it to us, do they?" George Carlin

A very important and timely book in defence of our elite SAS heroes, who are currently being subjected to a dangerously misguided onslaught of politically-correct bullsh*t that will make Britain weaker if it succeeds.

🇵🇸 Israel Exposed, the anonymous collective behind one of the largest online archives of Gaza genocide documentation, has released a map placing more than 35,200 videos and photos at the locations in Gaza where they were filmed.

Every geolocated clip links to its original post and source. Users can filter by area, date and type of attack, and overlay UN satellite damage assessments (UNOSAT). The full dataset is downloadable.

The group launched its archive in July with more than 64,500 videos and 17,900 photos and says more footage will be added.

@KenHicken @TheAthletic @CandaceDBuckner Yes. I believe people have the right to express themselves. Kaepernick, NBA players, Sophie Cunningham — all of them.

Its not hard when you let your principle guide you.
