Many new moms are ‘cleared’ six weeks after birth. But the postpartum period isn’t over.

We appeared before the Mental Health taskforce and requested for the integration of mental health in MH
Our recommendation was adopted in the “Mental Health and Wellbeing towards Happiness and National Prosperity- A Report by the Taskforce on Mental Health in Kenya” (2020)
Due to the pandemic, we can not organize the physical activities any more. Therefore, we have put together weekly sessions in our WhatsApp support group where moms get an opportunity to discuss different topics under motherhood and mental health with the help of professionals.
Our Founder @PasquelineNjau started a YouTube channel where she will be advocating for maternal mental health.
Please subscribe to her channel and stay tuned for an exciting journey with her.
She has uploaded her first video. Please view it here 👉🏾 https://t.co/Hl7ch3j35D
Mothers committing suicide or killing their own children as a result of postpartum depression/psychosis is not a myth.
We are too quick to judge such mothers, and completely ignore the underlying illnesses leading to that.

Dear Mom,
You have to prioritize yourself. It is only when you are well and healthy that you can take good care of everyone else.

“If I’d known the more subtle signs of postpartum depression, I believe I would've sought help sooner. In the hopes of helping even one person, here are the things I recognise now...”

A Mum going through a maternal mental illness needs love and support, not judgement. ❤❤
We need to let her know she is not alone and we care.
Let's talk maternal mental health💬🧠!

Dear Mom/Dad,
Do you feel overwhelmed, anxious, confused and not sure whether you are a good mom/dad? Do you need some time out to just cry? Go ahead and do it, but when you are done crying pick yourself up and keep doing it the best way you know how.
Do you know that Dads too suffer from postpartum depression and that they too need support just as much as the moms do?
Please read the below article.

“Promise me you won’t do anything to hurt yourself. I can’t do this alone. I need you.”
She said, “Yes.” Then Alexis looked at me and said “I love you, Pop.”
The next morning, Alexis took her life.”
