Great News! Condoms for Kiddies, HB 380 was defeated in the MD Senate this morning. This is a huge win for Maryland families. The @MDFreedomCaucus led the charge in exposing the radical nature of HB380, and today’s vote proves that even members of the Senate Judiciary Committee couldn’t defend it. Maryland parents have spoken, and lawmakers were forced to listen.

It’s time for a reality check. The EmPower MD program may have started with good intentions in 2008, but it’s now just a government slush fund taking your hard-earned money. Last year, St. Mary’s Delegate Brian Crosby passed a bill turning EmPower MD into a gas reduction and redistribution program. Why are ratepayers forced to pay to switch to electricity when we can’t meet current electrical demand? It makes no sense.
This is just another way to squeeze more money from us under the guise of helping others. But it’s not working, and we’re paying the price. Cutting the EmPower fee would bring immediate relief to ratepayers. It’s time to end it.
